Become a Project Management Professional in Ghana with the Institute of Project Management Professionals Ghana. The Institute of Project Management Professionals was established and licensed in Ghana, as a Prestigious, Examining, Licensing and Regulatory Professional Body, after meeting the statutory requirements, on 19th May 2016, the Institute was duly registered as a Professional Body in accordance with the provisions of the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) with Professionals Bodies Registration No.: PB. 68. Given under the Registrar of Professional Bodies at Accra-Ghana.
The Professional Certification Programme is designed to provide professional certification for practicing Project Management Professionals and training for polytechnic and university graduates who desire to practice Project Management in organizations. The demand for project management professionals is increasingly vital to many areas of business today as a result of organizations embarking on complex projects with the view to creating unique products and services. Projects specification, scope statement and profiling require expert knowledge in cost, time, and quality management.
The Programme is structured to train project management professionals to apply contemporary project management principles, tools, and concepts to mitigate and manage challenges associated with modern project execution. The effective management of an organization’s project impact on the achievement of its goals. This goal is sometimes lost if the organization lacks key management personnel trained to manage the complexity of projects.
The programme seeks to provide project management professionals with opportunity to enhance their skills as project managers dealing with project planning and control, project implementation and management, and managing any risks associated with projects. Professionals will be able to use tools and methods efficiently and effectively, and introduce the most suitable technology to ensure success of their future projects.
It is against this background that the Professional Certification Programme (PCP), a six-level programme, was designed and launched in October, 2016. The entry requirements for the PCP is an SSCE, HND or First Degree in any discipline from a recognized tertiary Institution.
Students who successfully complete the six (6) levels are awarded the designation Certified Human Resource Practitioner.
Level 1: Individuals with SSSCE or Mature student with two or three years’ working experiences and knowledge as a project team member will be admitted to the level 1 (Student Member).
Level 2: Individuals with Diploma in Project Management from a recognized academic institution or professional body with two or three years’ working experiences and knowledge as a project team member will be granted exemption to the level of an associate.
Level 3: Individuals with Higher/Advance Diploma in Project Management from a recognized academic institution or professional body with four to five years’ working experiences and knowledge as a project team member will be granted exemption to the level of a full member.
Level 4: Individuals with Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management from a recognized academic institution with six to seven years’ working experiences and knowledge as a project manager will be granted exemption to the chartered level.
In the case of individuals with Bachelor’s Degree in any other area not project management related from a recognized academic institution with two to nineteen years’ working experiences and knowledge as a project team member, project manager, project consultant, project director, or member of the project board and been able to execute project contract within the project management framework before applying for this membership will be granted exemption determined by the membership committee or the executive board.
